In July 2007 Four Seasons Youth Theatre presented Once On This Island, a Caribbean adaptation of the popular fairy tale "The Little Mermaid." The production included students ages 9 - 19, with a cast of 45 actors/singers and a student technical staff of 10 interns. Student participants from over 20 Dane County schools were part of the production.

Written by the Tony Award winning team of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Ragtime and the animated film Anastasia), Once On This Island sings and dances the story of Ti Moune, a peasant girl who rescues, nurses and falls in love with Daniel, a boy from a wealthy family. When Daniel is returned to his people, the gods who rule the island guide Ti Moune on a quest to test the strength of her love against the powerful forces of prejudice, hatred and death.
